Job Posting: Casual Labour (2 positions) – May up to December 2025
Location: Bobby Orr Community Centre – Parry Sound ON
Located amidst the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay and a 2.5-hour drive north of Toronto, the Town of Parry Sound offers an exceptional quality of life.
Join our team in the Parks & Recreation Department as a Casual Labourer from May up to December. The primary purpose of these roles is to provide general labour for municipal facilities, parks and trails.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide general labour for a variety of operational and maintenance services for the Corporation’s properties and facilities, parks and trails (grass cutting, weeding, garbage removal, beach maintenance and could include outdoor winter maintenance activities.
2. Operate hand tools and ground maintenance equipment (ex. Lawn Mowers, etc.).
3. Complete daily circle checks and inspection reports relative to equipment used.
4. Ensures that a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and technical operation is maintained.
5. Ensures that occupational health and safety practices are strictly observed, and that fire prevention practices and regulations are adhered to.
6. Perform such other related duties within the general parameters of the job description, as may be reasonably requested by the Manager of Parks and Recreation and/or the Parks and Recreation Lead Hand.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
1. Completed high school or post-secondary education.
2. Valid “G” driver’s license and provide a record of MTO Drivers Abstract.
3. Good teamwork and cooperation skills.
4. Good communication and public relation skills.
5. Will be required to attend training sessions, including training relative to equipment safety and WHMIS.
6. Previous experience in Parks & Recreation maintenance or similar setting is an asset. previous experience using and maintaining hand tools and lawn care is an asset.

Compensation:
This position is a Unionized Seasonal position, 40 hours per week with a job rate of $20.63 per hour.
Should you be entitled to and choose to enroll in the Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement Savings (OMERS) Plan, you will receive an additional 6% in lieu of benefits. Should you not be entitled to or decline to enroll in OMERS, you will receive an additional 12% in lieu of all forms of health and welfare benefits.
