If you would like to provide meaningful and rewarding assistance to physically disabled and high risk seniors living in the Parry Sound area, this is the job for you!  The Friends can help unlock your passion for helping community members live independently in their homes.  We have been serving West and East Parry Sound and Muskoka for over 3 decades.

The Friends is recruiting Independent Living Assistants in the Parry Sound area. We provide:

  • comprehensive training,
  • 24/7 shifts available for flexible scheduling
  • supportive supervisory staff
  • a team environment

  • additional training in a variety of programs to expand interests

Work requires staff travel in their car to individual homes and Forest Hill apartments.  Services to individuals able to direct their care include:

  • personal care
  • attendant care for activities of daily living such as medication reminders, homemaking, meal preparation, laundry
  • support to maintain independent living

Our on-site, internal training program along with goal driven coaching and leadership from our supervisory team, hands on training from our capable and well seasoned staff team will all support your employment journey with us.  As an I.L.A. you will have a flexible work schedule with a diverse group of clients allowing you to develop a broad range of skills in your career development. You choose the setting in which you work with the option to cross train in other programs.  Ultimately, the result is quality care for our clients and a meaningful career path for you.

This could lead to further education in the area of Personal Support Work…and beyond.  We can assist with full sponsorship of that too!

Knowledge and Skill requirement:

  • interest/experience supporting seniors and adults with physical disabilities living independently
  • background/training in a health-related field such as PSW is an asset but not necessary
  • excellent physical strength and stamina
  • ability to work with direction and independently with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • ability to work all shifts/weekends
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • sound judgement and discretion in confidential matters
  • reliable vehicle
