The Children’s Mental Health Program offer services that assist children and families to address behavioral and mental health needs. These services consist of a wholistic approach that addresses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the child and family. The program seeks to provide service, within the child’s familiar environments, that build constructive, community-based relationships and support networks between children with emotional or behavioral difficulties and their families, teachers, and other caregivers. Families shall be active participants from the development of the action plan to the achievement of goals. The program places value in identifying and building the child’s strengths and utilising these assets to facilitate change. Both clients and participants are invited to join in workshops, presentations, healing circles, talking circles, traditional based activities, and recreational activities that are offered by the program.

Ideal Qualifications/Credentials:
-University degree/college diploma in a field relevant to the position.
-Successful track record and experiences working with Indigenous children in the mental health field.
-Knowledge of the Friendship Centre movement and the various programs provided to the urban Indigenous communities.
-Knowledge of Indigenous culture and some of the social realities that Indigenous children experience in urban settings.
-Experience in program planning, development, implementation, data collection, and evaluation.
-Good oral/written communication and technology skills.
-Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
-Ability to work as a team player and be capable of coordinating activities with other Friendship Centre programs.
-Provide a current First Aid / CPR certification or be willing to be certified.
-Provide a clear Criminal Records Check (CPIC) with vulnerable persons screening.
-Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
-Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
-Must be vaccinated against the current strain of the Covid-19 Virus.

Wage: 52,000-64,000$ yearly
