Overview

The Senior Engineer (P.Eng.) is responsible for leading the design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects related to Almex’s industrial equipment and systems. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and hands-on collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and sales teams to ensure that engineering designs meet functional, safety, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

Lead the design and development of new and existing products, including conveyor vulcanizing presses, material handling systems, and custom industrial equipment.
Prepare and review detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials (SolidWorks).
Evaluate all engineering designs to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and customer specifications.
Perform structural and thermal calculations, stress analysis, and design validation.
Project Management

Manage engineering projects from concept through to production and commissioning.
Develop project timelines, budgets, and deliverables in coordination with cross-functional teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and drafters.
Manufacturing Support

Collaborate with production and assembly teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
Participate in prototype build reviews, testing, and troubleshooting.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in design and production processes.
Quality & Compliance

Maintain documentation and traceability for all engineered products.
Conduct design risk assessments and ensure compliance with CE, CSA, and other relevant standards.
Approve drawings and designs under P.Eng. seal where required.
Customer & Sales Support

Provide engineering input for quotations, proposals, and technical inquiries.
Support field teams with technical guidance and customer-facing problem resolution.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (in good standing).
Experience

Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in mechanical or industrial equipment design.
Strong background in product development for vulcanizing presses, industrial press systems, and related engineered equipment.
Proven experience leading engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Skills

Highly skilled in SolidWorks, including large assembly modeling, GD&T, sheet metal, weldments, and revision control systems (SolidWorks PDM or Vault).
Expertise in mechanical systems design, with working knowledge of FEA validation.
Experienced with fabrication, machining, and welding design standards; knowledgeable in DFM/DFA principles.
Familiar with safety and compliance standards (CSA, ISO, CE, OSHA).
Experienced with manufacturing ERP systems for managing BOMs, routings and ECR/ECO workflows.
Understanding of cross-disciplinary integration with electrical, software, and fluid power systems an asset.

Capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
The ability to see your designs move from concept to production and use in facilities around the world.

Pay: $105,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
