Community Living Parry Sound

Community Living Parry Sound (CLPS) has been working with people with developmental disabilities and their families over 60 years, supporting people to build better lives in their community. The work we do is driven by our common goal of living in a community where everyone has the power and freedom to determine the life they want. As our programs and services continue to grow, we are seeking the perfect addition to our support services team.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP:

The Employment and Planning Specialist Intern (One-year contract) will support people with developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful employment and personal development goals. They will assist in creating employment action plans and person-directed support plans for individuals supported by Leading Into New Careers (LINC) and Community Living Parry Sound (CLPS) promoting workplace skills and life skills to enhance independence and quality of life. The intern also provides guidance in building workplace relationships, fostering community inclusion, coordinating employment services, maintaining accurate case notes, and supporting administrative tasks related to employment and financial support while aligning rights-based culture with the Mission, Vision, and Service Principles of CLPS.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:

  • Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
  • Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
  • Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Applicants with post-secondary education in Human Services, Business Administration, and/or equivalent is considered an asset. Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Applicants must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Access to a reliable vehicle for business use and a valid G Driver’s license.

SPECIFIC KEY DUTIES:

Employment Planning Activities

  • Assess abilities, interests, goals, and values; develop employment and quality-of-life plans.
  • Set learning objectives, timelines, and coordinate training to support self-sufficiency.

Employment Discover & Maintenance

  • Conduct labour market research, identify opportunities, and collaborate with employers.
  • Foster workplace inclusion, skill development, and natural supports to sustain employment.
  • Maintain case notes and assist with employment-related tasks.

Life Skills & Planning

  • Support daily living skills, life skills, self-care, and community engagement.
  • Promote social inclusion, relationship-building, and quality of life planning beyond employment.

Administrative Functions

  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
  • Track progress toward employment and life skill goals.
  • Support scheduling, reporting, compliance, and other administrative tasks

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $23.57 Hourly
  • Vacation Entitlement: 2 Weeks
  • 1-Year Contract
  • Full-Time
  • Paid Sick Time
