We are thrilled to share the latest developments on the Barrie YMCA project. These recent milestones represent significant progress as we embark on the journey to establish a vibrant Centre of Community in Barrie.
Project Updates:
- Successfully signed a 50-year lease with a renewal option for an additional 10 years with the City of Barrie, securing the 535 Bayview Drive location.
- Completed required site due diligence as we get ready for construction.
- Engaged Martin Simmons Sweers Architects, Tatham Engineering, and MHBC Planning Ltd to advance the Site Plan Application to the City of Barrie.
- Continue to engage in partnership discussions with key stakeholders, including the Province of Ontario, City of Barrie, County of Simcoe, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, and Youth Haven.
The Barrie YMCA is envisioned as a centre of community, offering premier health and fitness facilities, an aquatic centre, youth outreach programs, youth transitional housing, community meeting spaces, rehabilitation programs, and an indoor accessible playground. Shaped through extensive community engagement, these services are tailored to welcome close to 10,000 Barrie and surrounding area residents eager to reconnect with health, play, and each other.
