Our YMCA Employer services are at the heart of the business community in Midland, Parry Sound, and Huntsville!
We help local businesses in Midland, Parry Sound and Huntsville hire the right candidate for the job, and our services are funded by Employment Ontario. We can:
- Match qualified candidates to your job openings
- Help create job ads and post them on our on-site or online job board
- Collect resumes and pre-screen candidates
- Provide a wage subsidy when you hire unemployed people who need some training, and help develop a training plan
- Provide access to a broader talent pool
Employer Information Sessions
YMCA Employment Services offer information sessions for employers, providing strategies for dealing with your biggest investment: your employees. The brown bag “Lunch and Learn” series will help you promote and foster positive employee relationships.
Employment and Transition Services
In the event that you are laying off employees, we can provide outplacement and transition services to help people get back on track.
Job Fair Hosting
New contract, expansion, or seasonal hire? Maximize recruitment time and effectiveness by holding a job fair!
Our location or yours, YMCA Employment and Learning Services will help make it happen including event promotion, candidate screening, pre-testing and referrals. Looking for a low-key recruitment strategy? Work one-on-one with our staff to develop a plan that works for you.
On-The-Job Training Supports
Training supports can help employers meet hiring needs while improving a participant’s employability and job-specific skills. Supports help meet the needs of your organization, are tailored to the specific needs of our clients, and may include:
- Subsidized and unsubsidized work placements
- Job trials
- Job shadowing
Subsidized Work Placements
YMCA Employment and Learning Services programs sometimes include financial incentives, such as wage subsidies, for employers who hire candidates through our programs. This can significantly reduce hiring costs, particularly for small businesses in rural communities where resources might be more limited. The subsidies can also help mitigate the financial risks of hiring new employees, making it easier for employers to take a chance on individuals who may not have a lot of work experience. Clients will complete an assessment to determine if they qualify for these supports.
