YMCA Day Camp - Scanlon Creek Conservation Area

Scanlon Creek is a beautiful conservation area featuring outdoor hiking trails, a small creek, forest areas, and a large shaded pavilion with picnic tables. The main day camp area includes a large private shelter with picnic tables, a forest that provides lots of trees for those hot days, green space, and access to on-site trails. The day camp area has porta potties which are cleaned often. Campers will spend their full day outside enjoying the conservation area.
Drop off and pick up takes place at the Innisfil YMCA before campers are bused to Scanlon Creek. The bus to Scanlon Creek will be located at the North Entrance of the Innisfil YMCA.

The bus will be leaving Innisfil at 9 am. Staff will begin sign in at 8:45 am. Please note that the bus must leave on time in the morning.

The bus will arrive back at Innisfil at 4 pm.

Extended care at the Innisfil YMCA runs from 7:30 am to 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This is a registered service with an additional fee. Please review your registration to confirm if you are registered.

Preparing for camp at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area

Whether your child is an experienced camper or it is their first camp experience, it is always helpful to know what they can expect at your camp location this summer!

Camper Information

To ensure we can contact you if required, your YMCA Online Portal profile must be up to date with phone numbers and emergency contacts/authorized persons for pick up. Also, all required camp forms must be completed before your child participates.

YMCA Values

At YMCA Day Camp, our community is built upon the values of kindness, integrity, inclusiveness, respect and optimism. The YMCA values are guiding principles at the heart of everything we do. We ask that every member of our camp community embrace these values each day to create a sense of belonging and an enriching environment for everyone.

We look forward to a fantastic summer with your child!

Scanlon Creek does not offer swimming. On Wednesdays, water games and activities will be programmed as an alternative. Please send your camper with their bathing suit, a towel, shoes or sandals that can get wet, and preferably a bag for wet swim gear. Neither day camp nor the YMCA are liable for any lost items. Water activities may be shifted to later in the week if warranted by weather conditions.

Day Camp staff work between the hours of 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Following provincial legislation and in keeping with our values, the YMCA is committed to supporting the wellbeing of employees. Our Disconnecting From Work Policy is intended to support work/life balance and staff wellbeing by ensuring that employees have the right to disconnect from their work outside of their scheduled hours.

If you have urgent concerns after hours, you can reach out to our Community Care Team between 6 am and 7 pm by phone, 705-792-7822 or email, [email protected].

All lost and found items will be held at camp until the end of each month. Where possible, found items will be displayed at sign out for parents and guardians to see.

In order to reduce lost and found we ask that you label all of your camper’s items. Custom labels can be ordered from: camps.mabelslabels.com. If you type ‘YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka Day Camp’ in the search bar before shopping a small portion of the cost will be donated to our campership fund.

Scanlon Creek does not have refillable water access. Water jugs will be avalible on site, but please ensure you pack your camper with at least two large water bottles.

Every week there will be a campfire for all campers to enjoy with roasting marshmallows and smores. If you would not like your camper to partake in smores, please inform the On-Site Supervisor. Vegan/halal marshmallow options will be aviable to accommodate dietary needs.
